Services for parents include detailed and current information on licensed day care providers and child care resources including material for selecting quality care.  A fee is charged on a sliding fee basis.  Services for Child Care Providers include training workshops & resource material on working with children and families, assistance on becoming a licensed provider.

Legal services available to financially eligible people who live in Northwest Minnesota, criminal defense cases are NOT allowed.  Cases are prioritized by income maintenance, health, housing, public benefits, and certain family law cases.

These are just a few of the programs Social Service has to offer.  Programs may vary slightly from county to county and include: 

Food Stamps: Supplement the food buying power of low-income families or persons. 

Medical Assistance: Serve people unable to pay for medical care, upon meeting certain qualifications.

MN Supplemental Aid: Provide additional financial assistance to the elderly, blind, and those with a disability that does not receive adequate SSI assistance.

Provides shelter, transitional housing and other services for battered women and their children.  Services may include general and legal advocacy.  A 24-hour crisis line is maintained.
